AHF 'to appeal pornography condom ruling'

An appeal is to be lodged by the Aids Healthcare Foundation (AHF) over a ruling that stated the mandatory use of condoms in the pornography industry cannot be enforced.

The California Court of Appeal judged that Los Angeles County health officials could not be made to regulate the adult film sector in this regard.

General counsel for the AHF Tom Myers said the organisation - which provides medicine and advocacy to more than 100,000 people in 22 countries - "will continue to pursue all available means to protect adult film workers and the public".

The representative claimed the county has not been carrying out its duties with regard to the porn industry, adding officials should not "blithely sit by" while thousands of individuals contract sexually transmitted infections both inside and outside the sector.

He added the county is required to protect public health and claimed the Court of Appeal has effectively denied it from being able to do so.
