Americans 'are using smartphones during sex'

It seems couples in the US may need to liven things up a little in the bedroom, as new research has shown many people are distracted when they should be getting it on.

Carried out by Harris Interactive and commissioned by payments solutions provider Jumio, the study revealed nine per cent of Americans have used their smartphone while engaging in sexual intercourse with a partner.

Entitled 2013 Mobile Consumer Habits, the research considered the answers of more than 2,000 respondents and indicated people may sometimes grow bored when between the sheets.

One way to spice things up could be through bedroom accessories such as vibrating cock rings, ensuring it is the sex aid - and not the phone - that makes all the buzzing noises.

It was shown that using their phone during sex is most common among the 18 to 34-year-old age group, with 20 per cent of these admitting to such behaviour.
