Britain's favourite sex position revealed
The nation's favourite sex position has been revealed, thanks to a new survey. It seems that, despite a the UK having a slightly prudish reputation, doggy-style is Britain's top way to have sex.
A survey from Ann Summers has revealed that around a quarter of adults in the UK favour the doggy-style position when having sex with their partners, which may come as a surprise to many.
Around 21 per cent of the 1,300 people included in the survey listed the missionary position as their favourite, even though it is often seen as the most boring way to have sex. This position came in third under the 'woman on top category'.
It was also revealed that around 66 per cent of adults in the UK enjoy trying out two or three positions during the one sexual session, suggesting that we like to get steamier than some people give us credit for.
But it isn't just younger adults who like to mix things up a bit in the bedroom department, as some 30 per cent of those aged between 35 and 44 said that doggy-style is their favourite way to have sex with their partner. A quarter of those aged between 44 and 54 also prefer women being on top.
The survey also revealed that Brits tend to be quite adventurous when it comes to their love lives. It seems that 81 per cent of women and 77 per cent of men having engaged in sexual fantasies with their partners, with the top option being sex in public. A number of people also admitted to having sex in their parents' bed.
Certain areas of the nation seem to have different tastes, with Cardiff sticking to the missionary position, while those in Belfast like to be more experimental.
It isn't just the positions that were eye-opening either, as many people said they have sex a lot each week. More than a third of respondents said they make time to have sex two to four times each week, suggesting people are quite active in UK bedrooms.
More people are making use of sex toys in the bedroom, with five per cent of people admitting to having used paddles, crops or floggers during their sexual exploits. This suggests that the UK is a lot kinkier than you might think.
