Charities hand out condoms to UK clubbers

Sexual health is the order of the day once a week at new London club night QueerlyOut, with a number of charities heading to the location every Thursday to dish out lube packs and condoms.

Those involved include the Terrence Higgins Trust (THT), Antidote and London Friend, with the aim in mind of promoting safe sex and drug and alcohol responsibility to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) university freshers, Pink News reports.

Bex Perry, a youth worker with the THT, explained that sex education in colleges and schools around the UK is not consistent and tends not to cover gay sex.

This leads to many LGBT people leaving school "without even basic information on how to guard against HIV and [sexually transmitted infections]".

A new campaign from advice service Brook is also attempting to raise awareness of sexual health, with Creative Boom recently reporting that the initiative will see posters and other merchandise distributed around the country.
