Colin Farrell was 'terrified' of sober sex

Actor Colin Farrell has admitted to being terrified the first time he had sex following his stint in rehab.

The Irishman claims that he was so used to making love while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, that he wasn't sure he would be able to perform in the bedroom.

He said: "I made love to a woman about two-and-a-half years after I got clean, and it was one of the most terrifying moments of my life.

"It was in the afternoon. The windows and the curtains were open. It was lovely. She was very gentle. But it was terrifying. Because I was just used to drunkenness and dark rooms and clubs and toilets and wherever."

Colin added that he was worried he wouldn't even be able to talk at all after getting clean, claiming that he'd barely spoken a word sober in 15 years.

The 37-year-old attended rehab in 2005 and admitted it took him a while to adjust to life without drugs and alcohol.

He was known as a ladies man in the early 2000s and was linked with a string of high profile celebrities, including Lindsay Lohan.

Colin also stated that he had visited Hugh Hefner's Playboy mansion in California on two occasions, something he regretted given the circumstances.

His former girlfriend, Playboy model Nicole Narain, attempted to sell a sex tape of the pair in 2003 before they came to a confidential agreement.

Now a father of two, he joked that he was trying to distinguish who the gold diggers in his life were.

Colin is currently promoting his new romance film Winter's Tale, which was released in the US on Valentine's Day and will come out in the UK on February 21st.

He plays a burglar who falls in love with an heiress and, upon her death, discovers that he has the power of reincarnation.

The movie also stars William Hurt, Jessica Brown Findlay and Russell Crowe.
