Condom shortage for Britain?

Couples may want to stock up on condoms sooner rather than later, as it has been suggested the UK could be about to experience a shortage of the prophylactic.

The NHS has warned of possible disruption to the supply of the contraceptive, due to a dispute between Durex owner Reckitt Benckiser and Indian firm TTK Lig.

People keen not to run out of condoms may therefore want to turn to the internet in order to get their hands on the amount they require.

Sexual health expert Dr Malcolm Vandenburg told the Daily Mail any shortage could result in young people deciding to indulge in unprotected sex.

He noted: "Once they get used to doing this, many continue not to use condoms even when the supply is back to normal."

TTK is responsible for making half of the Durex condoms in Britain - the nation's most popular brand that has been in operation for more than 75 years.
