Condoms ordered 'for Olympic summer of loving'

Extra condoms have been ordered for sexual health centres in Southend to help deal with a summer of loving in the area.

Alison Keefe, manager at Southend Hospital's sexual health clinic, has revealed the facility is receiving additional supplies of the prophylactic ahead of the Olympic mountain bike event - which is being held at Hadleigh Farm - arriving in the region, the Southend Standard reports.

It is anticipated that thousands of spectators will make their way to south Essex in the coming weeks - and Ms Keefe believes the climax of the Games, the feel-good factor of people coming together and a holiday environment will result in visitors feeling particularly amorous during their stay.

She stated: "Sexually-transmitted infections are already on the increase and we are expecting sports fans will be indulging in some extra-energetic activity themselves over the coming weeks."

As well as being made available from the hospital's sexual health clinic, condoms will also be on offer at the Kingsley-Ward Centre in Southchurch Road.
