Condoms to be popular at festivals?

Condoms are likely to be a widely-used product during this summer's music festival circuit, if new findings are anything to go by.

Research carried out by Generator Hostels has revealed almost one-in-five (18 per cent) young festival goers have had a one-night stand at such events.

Moreover, the study found that one-in-six (15 per cent) youngsters have lost their underwear at large musical gatherings.

Alison Armitage, director of the organisation, noted the festival season is truly getting underway this weekend (June 24th-26th) with Glastonbury taking centre stage, adding it is usually a very fun time of year for many people.

She explained: "Many get stuck in and let their hair down and so it's no surprise that music fans sometimes lose or forget items."

The figures follow the recent publication of advice issued by the Health Protection Agency's Health Protection Unit, which recommended revellers at big social meetings wear condoms to protect against sexually transmitted infections.
