Do you have an 'unusual' fantasy?

We all have sexual fantasies. Some people keep them to themselves, while others are more adventurous. One of the main reasons for keeping your fantasy a secret is not knowing how many other people are thinking the same thing. Is your fantasy completely unusual, or do many people think the same thing?

Luckily, a group of researchers from the University of Montreal has answered that question. Or at least, they believe they have. By surveying over 1,517 adults (799 men and 718 women), they have come up with a number of interesting facts about what we dream about doing in the bedroom.

Generally, fantasies are classified as 'rare' for the most extreme, 'unusual' for tamer but uncommon fetishes and 'typical' for the desires most people have. However, the researchers found that fantasies are so varied across the population that there aren't many that can be classified as unusual or rare.

Turns out, we're all a lot more adventurous than you might expect! This is especially true for men, who not only have more fantasies than women but also can describe them more vividly. Men are also more likely to want their fantasies to come true, while many women want to keep them in their minds.

Women, on the other hand, are much more likely to fantasise about being submissive. Between 30 and 60 per cent of female participants said they had this kind of desire, such as being tied up or spanked. Kinky!

The researchers believe that a lot of these fantasies stem from the popularity of the Fifty Shades of Grey book series. Other differences between the genders included the fact that men were more likely than women to fantasise about being with someone other than their partner.

Whatever your fantasy, it seems like you're in good company! If you end up getting to act it out some day, make sure you use a condom and stay safe. That way, you can enjoy yourself with no worries!
