Dress made from condoms to grace fashion show
A dress made entirely from condoms will be one of the main attractions at an upcoming fashion show in the US town of Belleville, Illinois.
The mini sundress, which features a ruffled skirt, will be gracing the catwalk at the Bethany Place 2011 Fashion Show on February 10th, reports the Belleville News Democrat.
Designed by Alana Lehr, the assistant director of Aids service organisation Bethany Place, the item of clothing incorporates a range of coloured condoms and has been created to raise awareness for HIV and Aids.
Marketing director at the facility Jamey Kosydor explained the initiative had gone down well with audiences when it was used at last year's event.
The dress is one of more than a dozen pieces of clothing to have been made from condoms for the occasion.
Manhattan's Museum of Sex recently held an exhibition entitled Rubbers, in which condoms were used to create everything from functional salt and pepper shakers to cocktail dresses.
