She rose to fame as Daenerys Targaryen in the hit drama Game of Thrones and has recently taken on the iconic role of Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys, but it seems that Emilia Clarke isn't a fan of sex scenes in movies.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Emilia explained that she thinks sex scenes should be more subtle rather than the over-the-top ones that are fast becoming a part of standard TV practice. She told the news provider that she tends to cringe at sex scenes anyway but that they are getting to be overdone.

"I don’t want to have sex thrown in my face and I’ve always thought the suggestion is so much more titillating than the act itself," she added.

"Most sex scenes you see in films or on TV are gratuitous and they’re usually just to attract an audience. On screen, the subtler the better."

This view may be slightly different from the makers of Game of Thrones, who often include graphic sex scenes and nudity in the show. In fact, the earlier seasons repeatedly showed Emilia in the nude, but it seems that the actress has refused to strip off for the later seasons.

Emilia may have taken a stand again against the programme makers and refused to get her kit off any more, at least if set gossip is to be believed.

Fellow actress on the show, Oona Chaplin, previously told the Telegraph: “One of the girls in the show who got her kit off the most in the first couple of seasons now doesn’t at all because she said, 'I want to be known for my acting not for my breasts'.”

It seems that we shouldn't expect to see the character Daenerys unclothed in future series of the hit show or Emilia taking on roles that leave little to the imagination.

Do you think there's too much sex on TV nowadays?
