Ex-porn stars want condoms to become mandatory

Former porn stars have come out and spoke of the need for condoms to be worn while on set.

Shelley Lubben and Michelle Avanti are both members of the Pink Cross Foundation, which seeks to offer adult film stars a way out of the industry.

Avanti said she contracted a number of sexually-transmitted infections while performing in movies

She added: "I believe that if condoms had been allowed to be used, I would not have suffered so many physical ailments and infections."

It comes as two companies - Hustler and Forsaken Pictures - have been reprimanded for failing to ensure their performers use the prophylactic while on stage.

Lubben, who took part in over 30 flicks during her time in porn, wants the illegal working practices many woman end up in to be curtailed.

According to Pink Cross Foundation, 2,396 cases of chlamydia and 1,389 of gonorrhoea have been reported among actors since 2004.
