Fake condoms found in Birmingham shop

Individuals in Birmingham have been told to be wary after fake condoms were found on sale in a shop in the city.

The dodgy contraceptives - which were modelled as Durexx Gossamer - were found by Birmingham Trading Standards, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Head of Trading Standards Sajeela Naseer noted anyone with prophylactics that were bought in the area should check before using them.

"If they have any concerns we urge people not to use them and to contact us immediately, we are particularly keen to find out where people may have bought them from," the official added.

The news provider noted fake condoms can be as much as ten times more likely to fail, when compared to the genuine articles.

This means the spread of sexually transmitted infections could rise if men were to continue to use them.

It comes after it was announced a condom designed to offer a better erection is close to going on sale.
