Free chlamydia testing in Telford

Individuals in Telford who have been having sex without condoms can get tested for chlamydia for free.

It is part of an initiative launched by the Terrence Higgins Trust, which will take place on March 24th and 26th and aims to educate people about the importance of safe sex.

The scheme is aimed at 16 to 24-year-olds, as an estimated one-in-14 people in this age range have the condition, but it has yet to be diagnosed.

Lotte Hakeman, senior practitioner with the group in Telford, said: "Despite better awareness about STIs, some young people are still reluctant to be tested, or worried about what the test involves."

The specialist added the programme of testing will promote good sexual health for the residents of Shropshire.

An information day for women was recently held in Bedfordshire by the organisation, which included making females aware of their possible contraceptive methods, including the femidom.
