Gay condom purchases to rise in New York?

Purchases of gay condoms in New York could be about to increase as the city gears up for the legalisation of same-sex marriages.

Such unions are to be permitted in the Big Apple as of Sunday (July 24th), with an overwhelming number of applications for the day already received.

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg revealed a lottery will be held to determine which gay and lesbian couples will be allowed to wed on the day.

He said 764 pairings are to be selected for ceremonies across the city's five boroughs.

At a news conference, Mr Bloomberg stated: "We've done our homework and it's clear that the number of couples who want to marry on Sunday is more than the city clerk's offices could possibly handle."

New York was recently voted the number one place for homosexuals to take their summer holidays by the Pink Paper, due to its thriving gay club and bar scene.
