Gay pride celebrated in Delhi

People looking to buy gay condoms may be interested to hear that the first ever legally recognised celebration of homosexuality took place in India's capital at the weekend.

Delhi was awash with rainbow coloured flags, dancers and drummers as thousands of people marched through the city.

It was the first gay pride parade to take place since a law against same-sex relationships was overturned in 2009.

In previous years, individuals have lined the streets to protest their rights and call for society to accept homosexuality.

However, India Today reports that this year there was a noticeable addition of family members who had turned out to support their loved ones.

"My grandson is gay and he has the right to live his life the way he wants. I am an educated woman and I absolutely have no problem with it," 65-year-old Rani Sharma told the publication.

It was recently announced that the date of the annual event would be changed to November instead of the usual July after a number of people suffered heat stroke during the 2009 parade.
