It's all well and good buying a sex toy, but in order to get the most out of it with your partner, there are a few things you should do.

Sex toys can add a different element to intercourse with your partner, introducing new sensations and heightened trust. So long as you are both open to using sex toys together, you can have a lot of fun.

To help you have the best experience with your partner and your toy, here are a few handy tips:

Buy it together

A good place to start is to shop together for the sex toy you will use. Even if you have a toy at home that you or your partner has purchased, it is a good idea to buy a new one for joint use.

This allows you to find out what you are both comfortable with and also gives an insight into both of your experiences with toys.

You want to end up with a toy you are both happy with, as this will make using it together much easier and allow you to have more fun.

Let them experience it

If your partner hasn't used a sex toy before - or if you haven't but your partner has - it is a good idea to allow them or you time to experience it alone.

This will help in terms of working out the best ways to use it and what settings work best without any pressure.

Once you are both happy with the toy, you can move onto using it as a couple.

Start off slowly

If this is a new experience, in that you have never used a sex toy with your partner, you want to start off slowly.

This will allow you to get used to the sensation of the toy when it is being handled by your partner and you can both find out how the other likes it to be used.

Moving too quickly can make things awkward and uncomfortable, so listen to your partner if they tell you to stop or not to use it in a certain way. You should also speak up if you don't like what they are doing.

It is a learning experience, so communication is key. Keep this up and soon enough you will both be pros at using toys together.
