Grooms 'too drunk to have sex on wedding night'
Many couples do not have sex on the night of their wedding, despite the day supposedly being one of the happiest of their lives.
New research commissioned by Voucher Codes Pro has revealed more than half (52 per cent) of newlyweds fail to consummate their marriage on their first night as husband and wife - and the main reason for this is the groom being too drunk, the Daily Mail reports.
Indeed, it was found that condom packets have not been opened on wedding nights because the husband was too inebriated (24 per cent), the bride was too tired (16 per cent) or the couple had to look after their children (11 per cent).
A total of 13 per cent of couples do not get intimate because of the bride drinking too much, while nine per cent do not get it on because they argue before the end of the wedding reception.
Marketing director at Voucher Codes Pro George Charles said: "The emphasis of wedding night sex for married couples is no longer a huge factor."
