HIV scare 'highlights need for condoms in porn'

A new HIV scare serves to highlight the need for condoms to be worn in the adult film industry, it has been suggested.

According to the Free Speech Coalition - a trade organisation for the pornography industry - a 28-year-old actress has tested positively for HIV.

Those who believe the prophylactics should be mandatory have pointed to the case as proof that condoms should be worn in all films.

Assemblyman Isadore Hall said: "Short of requiring condoms in all adult films, this type of tragedy will continue and California workers will continue to be exposed to injury, harm and potentially death."

Owner of Adult Talent Managers LA Mark Schechter, which represents the actress, told the Los Angeles Times that while the results of a screening for sexually transmitted diseases came back inconclusive, the preliminary results of a second test were returned as potentially positive for HIV.

Mr Schechter confirmed the actress has been making sure her partners were notified of the news as quickly as possible by cooperating with medical personnel.
