Hull schoolkids to get given condoms?

Adolescents at a Hull secondary school may be given condoms between lessons under radical new plans.

Sir Henry Cooper School is considering a link-up with the Haxby Group, with the hope being that if the treatment options are more convenient, teenagers may be more likely to go for them.

Dr Mike Holmes, who is leading the talks, said: "We would, for example, offer advice on sexual health and family planning, drugs and obesity, as well as carry out screenings."

On top of being able to get condoms, schoolchildren could also get their hands on the contraceptive pill.

The area where the education establishment is located has a high rate of teenage pregnancy and so it is hoped this may help reduce levels.

It comes after former Labour MP and HIV sufferer Chris Smith told the Sun that people need to make sure they wear condoms and practice safe sex.
