A graduate from the University of Brighton has created a sex toy that features interchangeable shafts. Amber Defroand has designed a vibrator that allows women to personalise their pleasure by changing the shafts to suit their needs or their mood, creating a unique experience.

The range, called Pillow Play, has a number of silicone shafts to choose from, each of which results in the stimulation of different areas. It includes shapes that are different from the standard phallic-shaped sex toys usually seen on the market. The range even includes a double-headed shaft that allows for the stimulation of different erogenous zones at the same time.

Each of the shafts can be fitted to the same vibrating base, which means you can swap and change the shafts without having to buy a whole new toy. This means that the Pillow Play range can help save you money, as well as suit all your needs.

Ms Defroand told Dezeen: "I wanted to design a modular vibrator so the user can interchange the silicone shafts depending on what pleasure experience they want."

In an attempt to reduce the stigmatism around more standard sex toys, the designer created a range of shafts that feature different aspects, such as wavy edges, sculpted tips and bulbous ends. Each of the different sizes and shapes is characterised by their own colour.

Ms Defroand told the publication that she wanted to create organic shapes for each of the shafts instead of basing them on male anatomy, which has resulted in a unique range.

"Sex toys are stigmatised as being these big phallic-shaped rubber objects and can be closely linked to being seen to be a bit of a hussy if you have one, which is completely insane!" she said.

The Pillow Play range was presented at the New Designers graduate exhibition in July, where a number of people mistook them for garden appliances, according to Ms Defroand.

On top of the different shapes, the interchangeable shafts also have USB ports attached so as to charge the base vibrator. The base of the device also has control buttons for changing the vibration speed and pulse settings, allow you to fully personalise your experience. You can even control the toy by an app, allowing you to store personalised settings for future use.
