You might think that choosing the perfect sex toy is the most difficult part about adding some buzz to your bedroom. However, the real issue is how to look after your vibrator in order to keep it working properly for as long as possible.

There's nothing worse than engaging in some battery-powered fun - either on your own or with a partner - only for your sex toy to give up the ghost. This can totally ruin the fun and be incredibly frustrating.

Luckily, there are ways to care for your toy to keep it working and ensure your bedroom play is never interrupted.

Here are our tips for keeping your vibrator in tip-top condition:

Clean after use

This should go without saying, but you'd be surprised how many people use their toy and just pop it back in their drawer until next time. You need to clean your vibrator after each use - preferably straight after use - to ensure it is kept in ready-to-use condition.

Using baby wipes to give your toy a once over will remove any fluids that could dry and build up, impacting your toy's performance. It will also improve hygiene, especially if you are using it with multiple partners.

Look out for damage

You should get in the habit of checking your toy over for any damage before use. Not only can damage - such as broken wires - cause your vibrator to stop working at a pivotal moment, it can also mean it is dangerous to use.

Your toy should be in full working order and totally damage free when you're using it to avoid any of the wrong kind of shocks. If you notice any damage, don't use your vibrator, even if it looks like it is working fine.

Put them in the right place

Silicone is a popular finish when it comes to sex toys. It offers a realistic and comfortable feel, which can make all the difference. However, it also attracts dust, dirt and grime, which can mean your toy gets gross quickly.

This is why you shouldn't keep your vibrator under the bed in between uses. It is best to keep them in their own box or in a clean drawer, as this will stop them collecting dust and ensure they are ready to use.

Battery care

While many people will want to have working batteries in their toy at all times, if you don't use it often, you should take them out. This will stop battery corrosion, which can damage the toy.

You should also ensure that you have new batteries at the ready in case you lose power, rather than stealing some from the TV remote or other appliances when you need them. New batteries will create a much better buzz and ensure you aren't left disappointed.
