Kent residents offered HIV screening 'with immediate results'

People buying condoms online may be interested to hear that individuals in Kent are being invited to take part in HIV screening that will give them an immediate result.

Kent news reports that in recognition of World Aids Day, a double-decker bus featuring a mobile clinic will be travelling around Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone tomorrow (December 1st).

Those who are interested in being tested will have a small sample of blood taken from a finger prick and the findings will be given within a minute.

Dr Lesley Navaratne, a consultant in genito-urinary medicine and HIV, said: "We hope it will benefit those who have never been tested because they are frightened of having a blood test, or those who feel very anxious."

Advice and information will be available from experts who are hoping to encourage the public to come forward with any concerns.

The National Aids Trust advises people to always use condoms in order to reduce the risk of exposure to the HIV virus.
