Kenya condom advert 'could curb HIV spread'
A condom advert campaign in Kenya could help to curb the spread of HIV in the country.
This is according to US-based group Catholics for Choice, which is behind the billboard and newspaper promotion that aims to encourage couples to make sure they are staying safe when having sex.
The campaign is entitled Condoms 4 Life and Catholics for Choice believe it carries a message that is authentically Catholic.
"We believe in God. We believe that sex is sacred. We believe in caring for each other. We believe in using condoms," the advert states, while others run in publications claim that good Catholics use condoms.
The group explained Catholics support the use of this form of contraception because they wish to protect themselves and their partner.
However, the campaign has come in for criticism from Kenya's Roman Catholic Church, which does not support the use of prophylactics and Cardinal John Njue has called for the advertisements to be no longer run.
