LA City Council urged to make condom use mandatory on set

Former erotic actors have called for the LA City Council members to force condom use on the sets of movies.

Derrick Burts, who contracted HIV in October 2010 while working in the industry, wants to see the prophylactic introduced.

Also backing the move will be Shelley Lubben, former adult film actress and founder and president of the Pink Cross Foundation - an organisation designed to offer adult stars support.

The council was given 45 days to look into the feasibility of the policies in December of last year.

After revealing himself to be patient zeta last year, Burts said: "The industry let me down. They put me in a situation where I got HIV and after I'd been diagnosed they did nothing to help me."

It is hoped that if the move goes ahead, then the spread of sexually transmitted infections will reduce as greater precautions are taken.
