Los Angeles voters approve condom law

Voters in Los Angeles County have approved a legal reform that would make it compulsory for porn stars to wear condoms while filming in the area.

It has been announced today (November 7th) that the so-called Measure B stipulation has been supported by 55.9 per cent of the region's electorate, meaning the directive has taken one step closer to coming into legislation.

Under the terms of this proposal - which has been backed by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) - adult film producers would be legally-obliged to purchase a public health permit.

Professionals that decided to flout the ruling would run the risk of being hit with fines and criminal charges.

Michael Weinstein, president of the AHF, was quoted by the Los Angeles Times as saying: "Now that the people have spoken so overwhelmingly, it is the responsibility for the Board of Supervisors and the county Health Department to act immediately to enforce this law."
