Manny Pacquiao 'does not advocate use of condoms'
Manny Pacquiao has called for condoms to be banned in the Philippines.
The boxer, who is also a congressman, has sided with the Catholic Church as the government looks to introduce a bill that will mandate support for contraceptives.
Pacquiao stated that it is "sinful" to use precaution such as these during intercourse, despite the health benefits they can bring.
"God said, 'Go out and multiply.' He did not say, just have two or three kids," he added.
One of the main reasons that the policy is being considered is to try and curb overpopulation in the country.
It comes after safe sex groups in Darwin, Australia, were prevented from handing out condoms at a music festival.
Seranna Shutt, a member of the Australian Sex Party, told ABC News that the Bass in the Grass organisers would not let health officials into the event in order to distribute the prophylactic to attendees.
