Myanmar sex trade workers encouraged to use condoms

Women who are involved in the sex trade in Myanmar need to make sure they use condoms in order to keep themselves and their clients safe.

Habib Rahman, founder and director of Top - which is run almost entirely by people from the sex trade - told the Associated Foreign Press that many females do not fully understand the risks they face in this line of work.

"In general in Myanmar I do not think there is any sex education in school," he added.

Former and current sex workers are being recruited as part of the initiative in order to teach individuals about the dangers of not using condoms.

Mr Rahman remarked that the central point of his organisation is to try and make sure ladies stay healthy, regardless of whether or not they leave the trade.

It comes after Health4Men Connect, a mobile information service for homosexuals, was launched by the Anova Health Institute in South Africa.
