New gay condom guide launched

A new condom guide for gay and bi-sexual men has been launched online.

Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) has unveiled the web-based manual, which is forming part of a HIV prevention campaign in London.

The Gay Man's Guide to Condoms (Everything They Didn't Teach You In School) will give instructions on gay condom use and ensure men are equipped with the knowledge needed to help protect them from infection.

Carly James, head of programmes at THT - which was set up in 1982 - noted: "Condoms are the bedrock of HIV prevention, but with sex and relationships education patchy at best, too many men are being sent into the world with inadequate advice."

Ms James said that while the majority of males usually practice safe sex, there are important pieces of information they may not be aware of.

These include the fact the prophylactics are more likely to break when spit is used as lubrication and when condoms are stored in a warm place.
