A new 'smart' sex toy could help you track the calories you burn between the sheets. A California group have created a device that can measure the number of thrusts you perform, give you a calorie loss breakdown and even measure your top speed.

We've seen more and more sex toys come with the ability to connect to smartphones, usually for the purposes of creating settings, so it was only a matter time before someone created a pedometer for penises.

The toy, called Lovely, records your data during your sexual exploits and relays this to your smartphone. It then recommends up to 120 different sex positions, as well as tips on how to improve your technique to maximise both parties' pleasure.

As well as providing real time data regarding your sexual prowess, the toy also vibrates to provide stimulation for you and your partner during sex. The one-size-fits-all design works as a cock ring, with the vibrating section designed to provide clitoral stimulation.

Lovely also comes with around seven hours battery life when used to record only, while this lowers to two hours if you use the vibrating function continuously. It charges via an inductive station, with dual LEDs showing you its battery status.

According to the designers, the device isn't just intended for straight couples as it can help people of all orientations ensure they are getting the most out of their sex lives.

Reid Mihalko, a sex and relationship expert, said in a promotional video for the new Lovely toy: "It doesn't just have to go on a penis. You can put this wearable on a dildo, you can put it on your fingers, you can use it on a toy on yourself. It's really only going to be limited by the ideas that you come up with."

From inspiring new positions to showing you how to get the best response from your partner, the intuitive toy could revolutionise your bedroom antics.
