Porn actor calls for 'condom use'

An actor from the adult film industry has called for condoms to become mandatory on all shoots.

Derek Burts waived the right to anonymity in order to speak out about the dangers of not using protection after he discovered he had contracted HIV.

The 24-year-old believes he was exposed to the virus while on a gay porn shoot and now wants all actors to be required to wear condoms when filming.

"Making $10,000 (£6,319) or $15,000 (£9,479) for porn isn't worth your life. Performers need to be educated," Burts stated.

The revelation that a member of the industry had tested positive for the infection initially caused panic in the field and numerous actors were quarantined until they had been screened.

In response to claims by Burts that the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation failed to provide much support, the organisation recently stated that his comments were "not truthful" and "self serving".
