Porn stars call for condoms to be mandatory

It should be mandatory for adult movie actors to wear condoms on all film sets.

This is according to a handful of porn stars who have recently tested positive for HIV and claimed a recent outbreak in diagnoses suggests current regulations that state a performer has to be tested once every two weeks is not working, the Associated Press reports.

These comments have been made at a news conference organised by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation - and adult actor Rod Daily said: "Condoms in porn is not really that crazy a thing … If they do care that much about the performers, they would use condoms."

Mr Daily found out he was infected last month, shortly after his girlfriend and fellow porn star Cameron Bay was told the same thing. The male performer was one of six porn actors - past and present - to speak at the event.

Officials from the industry, however, have claimed that none of the three recent HIV infections appear to have taken place on an adult film shoot, with Steven Hirsch, chief executive officer of the Vivid Entertainment Group, explaining that what actors get up to off set is beyond the control of filmmakers.
