7075531Many people around the world watch pornography. It's probably more than you think, and for a long time this was just something we assume. However, with the growth of the internet and the many ways to fulfil sexual desires online, we can now get a much better picture of who is watching porn, and how.

This comes from popular XXX site Pornhub, which released its '2014 Year in Review' report detailing the facts and figures about global porn usage. The results show that an astonishing amount of adult video was watched in the last 12 months!

In total, 78.9 billion videos were viewed on Pornhub. Maths whizkids might have worked out that equates to around 11 videos for every person on Earth! Not everyone in the world has a computer, of course, so most viewers will have been a lot busier than that.

In the UK, for example, each person watched an average of 115 videos on Pornhub in 2014. That puts us slightly ahead of our closest neighbour, the Republic of Ireland, which viewed 112 videos per capita. However, the biggest Pornhub users were the US and Canada, with 123 and 119 pageviews per person.

The sheer size of the US put it easily at the top spot in terms of total traffic, as well. Overall, almost 40 per cent of Pornhub's traffic came from the states in 2014. The UK came second in this table, followed by Canada, India and Germany.

How we watch porn is also changing. The number of people accessing Pornhub on their phone rose by 12 per cent in 2014, while tablet use rose by 20 per cent. Meanwhile, the amount of traffic coming from desktop or laptop PCs fell by 13 per cent.

This means the most popular way to access Pornhub is via a mobile phone, which accounted for 45 per cent of total traffic. Desktops/laptops came in close second with 44 per cent of traffic, and the remaining 11 per cent was from tablets. Clearly, the way we view porn is changing as it becomes a larger part of society.
