Robot sex 'will be common' in 2067
Half of Americans think having sex with robots will be common in 50 years times, according to a new poll.
A YouGov survey found that 49 per cent of US adults believe sex bots will be used as a regular pastime by 2067.
It may sound like something out of a science fiction film, but there are a number of start-ups that have already produced prototypes and even launched models. However, the idea of getting intimate with a bit of machinery is still a fairly alien concept to many.
Of course, thinking something will be common and wanting to participate in it yourself are two very different things, but the survey also found that there would be quite the demand for sex robots.
Nearly a quarter of the American men asked (24 per cent) said they would consider having sex with a robot if it was possible. In comparison, just nine per cent of women are interested in the idea of actually getting up close and personal with sexy machinery.
However, having sex with an inanimate object may bring up a lot of questions.
The YouGov survey found that only 14 per cent of US adults would consider sex with a robot to be intercourse, while a third thought it was more similar to masturbation.
But there's a bigger question for robot lovers who are in relationships, is it cheating? Just under a third of respondents (32 per cent) think it is, while a similar number (33 per cent) claimed it wouldn't be.
Until sexy robots hit the market, it's important that you practice safe sex with your human companions. Condoms are the best way to prevent the spreading of STDs and ensuring that nothing ruins your intimacy.
There are also a number of other ways to bring more fun into the bedroom if you're looking to spice it up a bit, without having to build your own robot.
