Sexual health clinic opens in Skelmersdale

Individuals looking to buy cheap condoms may be interested to hear that a new sexual health centre for young people has been launched in Skelmersdale.

The clinic will be open on Tuesday mornings and from 10:00 to 14.00 GMT on Fridays.

Those aged under 25 are invited to drop in at the outreach service on the Westbank campus of Skelmersdale College without an appointment.

NHS Central Lancashire is behind the centre, which is designed to provide young people with advice on contraception and access to screening for sexually transmitted diseases.

Nurse Heather Whittaker said: "Getting sexual health advice can be scary, especially if you are young, so having this service in the college is less daunting for them."

People wishing to take advantage of the confidential service are advised that the sessions are held in the first aid room in the sports complex.

NHS Central Lancashire recently reported that the number of cases of people living with HIV in the area has remained steady at 180.
