Somerset students produce teen pregnancy film
A film has been produced by students from schools in Somerset that highlights the importance of contraceptives such as condoms.
Looking For Sarah follows the plight of a teenage girl who unexpectedly falls pregnant and will be shown to pupils across the county, the BBC reports.
The screenplay was created through the partnership between a group of youngsters and a professional film crew.
NHS Somerset and the county council funded the venture in the hope of raising awareness about sexual health among teens.
Teenage pregnancy strategy co-ordinator for Somerset Julie Husband said: "The film addresses a lot of the misunderstandings people have about teenage pregnancy."
She added that financial help is not always guaranteed for those under 16 who find themselves with a child, while being a young parent "can put real pressures on your social life".
Students from the schools that took part in the filming are invited to attend the premiere of the movie, which is taking place this evening (January 12th) from 17:45 GMT at the Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton.
