14066116The upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film has been raising eyebrows since its announcement, but the latest reports following preview screenings might have the more prudish members of society up in arms. According to viewers, the film might be the raunchiest released in over a decade.

Apparently, Fifty Shades of Grey will feature around 20 minutes of sex and nudity. Considering the film's running time of roughly 100 minutes, that means the raunchy scenes make up about one fifth of the entire movie. Overall, there are 12 sex scenes featured in the film.

This is an astonishing amount of sex in a mainstream film. In fact, if you put the 100 movies that achieved an 18 rating in the UK and an R rating in the US in 2014 together, their collective sex scenes in total would still not be as long as 20 minutes altogether. Fifty Shades of Grey has more raunchiness than an entire year's worth of releases combined!

In fact, in terms of sex scenes, there has been nothing in a decade that can match the amount of skin Fifty Shades of Grey shows. The last movie to match it was Michael Winterbottom's 9 Songs, which contained 41 minutes of sex in a runtime lasting just 75 minutes!

This goes against reports in March that suggested the film was more romantic than sexual. However, fans of the books might be glad to find out that the author, E. L. James, persuaded Sam Taylor-Johnson - the film's director - to make Fifty Shades of Grey a spicier viewing experience.

Of course, this has affected Fifty Shades of Grey's rating. It will get an 18 certificate in the UK for all the sexual content. In the US, it has managed to avoid the dreaded NC-17 rating. Instead, it will be rated R, meaning people under the age of 17 need to be accompanied by an adult in order to watch the film.
