THT promotes rapid HIV tests
Should the condom have split and left people concerned about the possibility of contracting HIV, the Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) is here to help, having launched a campaign promoting a quick test service that sees results returned within 20 minutes.
A painless procedure, the check is free, more than 99 per cent accurate and, of course, confidential, with the initiative launched in response to research revealing that gay men in the UK remain one of the demographics most at risk of infection - one in four are apparently unaware they are living with the disease.
Adverts in London's gay magazines, on Gaydar and on posters in saunas, NHS clinics and bars will be rolled out, with Marc Thompson of the organisation saying: "We hope that by showing men how quick and easy it is we'll encourage those who may have been putting it off to come forward and achieve peace of mind."
It comes after the charity reopened a national Hardship Fund for those living with HIV and who are in dire financial need.
