We can all be guilty at times at letting things get a little mundane in the bedroom, but it appears the younger generation could teach the rest of us a thing or two.

According to new research, young people are engaging in a wider range of sexual practices than ever before.

By looking at figures from a national Sex Survey, they found that more than one in ten millennial teenagers had tried anal sex by the age of 18, while three in ten between the age of 22 and 24 could say the same.

Unsurprisingly, vaginal and oral sex remain the most common types of intimate activity between young men and women and the average age people start having sex hasn't changed much over the decades.

According to the most recent survey, it was in-line with the legal age of 16, maybe swaying some who are concerned that many people are having sex too young.

Published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, the study doesn't go as far as to explain why people may be getting more experimental in their sex lives, with experts only able to speculate.

Many believe it is because society is becoming less judgemental, making activities that were once a massive taboo more acceptable to try out in the bedroom. There is also likely to be the impact of the digital revolution, with the internet and social media making people more aware of what others are getting up to in their private lives.

Whether you're wanting to stick to the same old moves or are willing to try something new, it's important that you practice safe sex. Condoms remain one of the best ways of protecting yourself - and your partner - against STDs and unwanted pregnancies.

There are also now a wide range of sex toys on the market if you are looking to bring a little spice into your bedroom. Whether for him or her, there are a variety of options depending on your preferences and how wild you want to be!
